About the School Song
In 2018, Music teachers, Miss Dan Wei Lio and Mr Michael Cartwright began work on composing the music and writing the lyrics to a new song to represent the newly merged school. The song was officially launched during the 54th Speech and Prize Giving Day in 2019.
The song draws on elements from the school songs of both antecedent schools; Chong Boon Secondary School and Yio Chu Kang Secondary School. Its lyrics reflect the beliefs and aspirations of the new school, while weaving in familiar phrases from the former Yio Chu Kang Secondary School song. The melody, meanwhile, is shaped by elements of the former Chong Boon Secondary School song. In this way, the new school song honours both antecedent schools while embracing a contemporary spirit.
A specially commissioned recording was produced by two of our alumni currently enjoying success in the Singapore music industry: Irwin Fua from Chong Boon Secondary School (class of 2003) and Elizabeth Low from Yio Chu Kang Secondary School (class of 2011). The instrumental arrangement is by Irwin, and Elizabeth provided the vocals. The recording is played to accompany the weekly mass singing of the school song during the formal assembly in The Performing Arts Theatre (School Hall).
